In K-3rd grade, kids will experience hands-on learning that will allow them to actively apply God’s word in a way that makes sense in their world. Each week as they explore God’s word and His character, they will be challenged to continue applying the weekly “bottom line” every day at home, school, and in other relationships.
ENVIRONMENT:
Each grade has its own “District” in UPTOWN (i.e. 2nd Grade is District 2). In each district, kids will be invited to plug into the central topic for the day through interactions with others and leaders in a small group setting.
From there, the districts will meet together at the STUDIO for a time of energetic worship and teaching from God’s word. They will break down a simple truth from God’s word that is relevant and memorable. After that, it’s back to small groups where they will look at that same truth again and learn how to apply it in every day life.
For every ten kids, there is one Journey Kids team member who is consistent in your child’s life for that school year.
Children enrolled in K-3rd grade will attend their corresponding “district” for the 2011-2012 school year until August 2012.
Because our group times are so intentional, please do not bring toys, games, and phones. We can’t be responsible for lost items.
SNACKS:
Generally, snacks are not a part of our time together in UPTOWN. Occasionally, we may have an alternative snack that enhances the truth we are learning about God. If so, it will be posted on the outside of the room. Please inform the leaders of any allergies you are aware of.
For safety reasons, we cannot allow outside food in our environments.
EVENTS:
In addition to Sunday morning environments, UPTOWN may have special events such as movie nights, summer camp, and family worship experiences. Generally, parents will receive notification on the weekends and by email.
