In 4th-5th grade, relationships become increasingly important. When kids enter this environment, they know they have friends and leaders they can depend on. Together they will open God’s word and begin to experience it as they discover how they can begin to live out their faith and begin to investigate what it truly means to follow Jesus.
ENVIRONMENT:
Each grade has its own “District” in UPTOWN (i.e. 4th Grade is District 4). In each district, kids will be invited to plug in to the central topic for the day through interactions with others and leaders in a small group setting.
From there, the districts will meet together at the STUDIO for a time of energetic worship and teaching from God’s word. They will break down a simple truth from God’s word that is relevant and memorable. After that, it’s back to small groups where they will look at that same truth again and learn how to apply in every day life.
For every ten kids, there is one Journey Kids team member who is consistent in your child’s life for that school year. For Districts 4 and 5, there are generally six leaders to build relationships with each hour.
Children enrolled in 4th-5th grade will attend their corresponding “district” for the 2011-2012 school year until August 2012.
Because our group times are so intentional, please do not bring toys, games, and phones. We can’t be responsible for lost items.
SNACKS:
Generally, snacks are not a part of our time together in UPTOWN. Occasionally, we may have an alternative snack that enhances the truth we are learning about God. If so, it will be posted on the outside of the room. Please inform the leaders of any allergies you are aware of.
For safety reasons, we cannot allow outside food in our environments.
EVENTS:
In addition to Sunday morning environments, UPTOWN may have special events such as movie nights, summer camp, and family worship experiences.
Specifically, Districts 4 and 5 also have additional events offered periodically during the school year. These include additional Bible studies, and weekend activities.
Generally, parents will receive notification about these events on the weekends and by email.
