The staff of Journey Church carries out the strategy put in place by the elders. They receive leadership, direction, and support from the elders to carry out the practical aspect of the ministry. The staff then begins to equip others to join them in ministering to the body. For more information about our staff and ministries, contact us!
Jimmy Carroll, Lead Pastor
Jimmy serves as the Lead Pastor of Journey Church. In December of 2004, God impressed upon him to start Journey Church in North Raleigh to help people connect with God and others and equip them for success in life.

Smooth Via,
Assistant Pastor
Smooth and Kelly came to Journey in February of 2007. They
had been looking for a church family that they could believe in and invest
their lives in, and realized they had finally found it when they found Journey.
Needless to say they were stoked to begin a new level of involvement as Smooth
joined the pastoral staff in November of 2007.
Smooth has some degrees you probably don’t care about, and
hopes to one day hold a Ph.D. in Christian Ethics (which you probably also
don’t care about). Smooth and Kelly have two girls Cana
and Kayil, and consider raising a genuine Jesus-loving family their top calling
in life.
Dave Bauer, Technical Ministry
Dave brings years of experience in the technical field of sound, video and lights. He has been involved in many areas of production and will invest his heart into this area of Journey Church. Like most tech guys, he never tires with ‘tweaking’ the system ‘just a little bit more.’ He is married to Lisa, who also serves with Journey and together they have three boys, Adam, Aaron, and Andrew.
Lisa Bauer, Community Life
What is it that motivates your heart? Lisa’s excitement for Journey and what God is doing motivates her passion for people to find their place in His kingdom. After spending many years in full-time ministry, Lisa’s desire is to equip people to serve God by discovering and utilizing their talents, gifts, abilities, and strengths within the body of Christ. Lisa also oversees our Journey Kidz community in an effort to build a foundation for children and their families to grow in God. Lisa is the wife of Dave Bauer who serves as the Technical Director, and they have three sons, Adam, Andrew and Aaron who also serve at Journey.
Kim Ivey, First impression
When you get on the school campus where Journey Church resides, Kim is the first person you will want to meet. Why? Because she is infectious. She loves life and her smile will just swallow you. She is probably the most excited member of the Journey team and always seems to create the spark that people need when they need it. Kim will be responsible for making you feel welcome and helping people to be informed of overall church life. Kim and Jerry have been married for 20 years. They have two children (Amanda, 18 and Morgan, 13) and reside in Raleigh.
Aaron Bauer
Children's Director
Aaron is a graduate of Liberty University and is excited to serve with Journey Church. He brings creativity and energy to the many areas of Journey Kidz. Over the years, he has worked with elementary students in various outlets including small groups, drama teams, theatre productions and summer camps as a counselor and program director. His desire is to see children and parents connecting with God and with others in a creative and energetic environment.
