It is clear from the New Testament that the local church is to be governed by a group of men known as elders or overseers (Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood (KJV)). Elders are responsible under Christ for the direction (overall philosophy, vision, and direction), doctrine (what we believe, teaching), discipleship (overall teaching and equipping of the church) of the body (Hebrews 13:7 Appreciate your leaders who gave you the Word of God. Take a good look at the way they live, and let their faithfulness instruct you, as well as their truthfulness. There should be a consistency that runs through us all (The Message)). The personal and spiritual qualifications of the elders/overseers are outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. Please contact any of our elders, if you have a spiritual need or have questions about Journey Church.

Paul Callaghan
Paul and Blaire come to Journey with over eleven years of ministry experience. Blaire is a native of Raleigh and finally dragged Paul back to her hometown. Paul is a Florida boy, basically a fish out of water trying to learn the accent that comes with the territory. He and Blaire are passionate about creating a relevant environment at Journey that leads others into a real worship experience with God. Paul’s primary role will be to lead the development of our weekly Sunday morning worship including the worship band, creative arts, and technical ministry. Paul and Blaire have been married for nine years and have two children, Bryn (3) and Luke (1 1/2).
Paul Crouthamel
Paul and Martha, along with their two children, Caitlin (15) and Kyle (11), are new to the Raleigh area. Paul is a bonafide Yankee Transplant born and raised in Southern New Jersey. He married his high school sweetheart and together they have been in ministry for over 18 years. Paul and his family have recently moved from Annapolis, Maryland to join our team and now live in Wake Forest. Paul’s passion is to help people develop a relationship with God that is real and growing. Paul has his hand in a lot around Journey but his primary role on our team is to lead our Journey Groups, which is our small group ministry helping people move to the next step in their spiritual journey.
Mark Harvey
Mark and Teresa have been married for 25 years and have three children (Constance, Kayla & Mark Jr.) - Constance and Kayla are married. Mark has by far the toughest job in the church as he has to try and keep the pastors and operation of the church straight. He brings 19+ years of experience in management and also taught middle school students for four years. Honestly, we felt that if this guy can keep middle school students on track, he could probably take care of the staff and operation of our church. Mark and Teresa live in Garner and they bring a great servant’s heart to our church.
Rob Wetzel
Rob and Bonnie join the Journey family with their 2 children, Rachel (12) and Ryan (8). They have served in ministry to students in Virginia, North Carolina and Missouri for their entire married life of 18 years and are excited to be a part of Journey's leadership team. Rob’s primary role at Journey will involve outreach to our community through serving others and creating events to meet the needs of families in our community. He will also establish Journey’s arm to the world through our missions program. As part of their long term life goals, they are in the process of creating a non-profit ministry called 70x7 Ministries. This ministry will provide clinical services to adolescents and their families and will include individual and family counseling, groups, speaker’s bureau and retreats.
