Frequently Asked Questions
The shortcut in getting to know Journey Church

What kind of church is Journey Church?
Journey Church is an independent church. Our body of believers is a diverse group from many denominations and backgrounds. However, Journeyjourneypeople does partner with groups and organizations that offer vital help in assisting us to accomplish our mission. For example, we partner with the Southern Baptist Convention for the purpose of world missions. We also partner with Willow Creek and "Fellowship Connections" in the area of leadership development.

What are we all about at Journey Church?
Our mission is: To connect people with God and others and to equip them for success in life.
How do we accomplish that mission at Journey?
We seek to accomplish our mission by living out and encouraging others to observe the following core values:
  • Base everything we do on the Bible, God’s Word
  • Elevate a life of worship that glorifies God
  • Draw others into a personal relationship with God through Jesus
  • Build up families
  • Create an environment of authenticity with one another
  • Serve others as Christ Jesus did and taught
  • Be relevant and authentic in all we do
How do I get more connected at Journey Church?
There are several ways to take your next step here at Journey but our primary way of connection is through our Journey Groups. A Journey Group is a small group of people that gathers on a weekly basis to discover together the truths of the Bible and how to apply them to everyday life. They do life together. They meet in different neighborhoods in the North Raleigh area and are open to anyone ready to connect more intimately here at Journey. What do I do if I want to get baptized?
The Bible teaches that baptism is a step of obedience after salvation. It does not have special power to wash away our sins but is a public demonstration of an inward commitment to Jesus. We do not baptize infants but rather we have a time of dedication for both the parents and child. If you would like to get baptized, fill out a Connection Card and one of our pastors will contact you and give you all the details and information you need.

How do I join Journey Church?
At Journey, we believe that the Bible encourages us to be devoted in fellowship to a local community of believers (Hebrews 10:25). Christians join Journey by attending a membership seminar taught by Pastor Carroll and some of the staff at Journey. At the end of the class, we enter into a covenant agreement in which both the staff and new church member commit to serve one another in pursuing God’s direction for Journey Church.

What is the long term vision of Journey Church concerning land and buildings?
Our vision from the beginning has been to have a city-wide impact that would enable us to have a global impact. We feel that this can best be accomplished through the process of multiplication and duplication. Church planting is a strategic focus of Journey Church. Our vision is to plant churches all over the triangle area and together reach the world. Although we feel strongly that God will direct and provide land and buildings, this is not our focus. We see land and buildings as a tool, not a goal.

What is available for my children?
Journey KIDZ is our Sunday morning ministry to your children from infants to 5th grade. We want to provide your children with a loving and caring environment where they can make a real connection with God while at the same time developing friendships with others their age. It all starts with preschool where we begin teaching them simple truths. KIDZ G.I.G. is a place for our elementary aged children to come and experience God through engaging in hands-on activities and exciting worship. Everything for your infant to 5th grader takes place during the worship hour. Your children can worship with you or take advantage of our age appropriate learning in the children’s wing.

For our Middle School and High School students, we offer small group studies every other Sunday night and monthly activities in addition to our seasonal events like winter retreats, summer camps, and mission trips.
Children and students are a priority at Journey Church.

What do I do if I need spiritual help like finding God or just figuring out where I am on my journey?
That’s easy, because that is what Journey is all about. Just seek out one of the pastors in person, send an e-mail to anyone on staff, or fill out your information on a Connection Card given out each Sunday. You will be given top priority in our schedule because at Journey, we are all about helping people connect with God through the person of Jesus Christ.
